IFA has objected strongly to Minister Creed’s proposal to impose compulsory EID on farmers from October 1st. We have made a submission pointing out that this measure would cost sheep farmers an additional €2m and it is unacceptable that farmers would be expected to carry the costs when the benefits will go to factories and to the Department. This is an issue we will continue to resist strongly.
