AN ITALIAN magaizne has included eight pages on the Ring of Kerry as part of a supplement in its June 2018 edition.

Entitled ‘Il tempo sospeso del Ring of Kerry’ – ‘Suspending time on the Ring of Kerry’ – Tourism Ireland, the body responsibl­e for marketing Ireland abroad, said the supplement in the glossy travel magazine has reached some 20,000 people.

“We were delighted with the various articles and excellent coverage in Bell’Europa magazine. It’s a great way of showcasing Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way to a wide audience of potential Italian visitors – helping us to spread the word about what makes a holiday in Ireland so memorable,” Tourism Ireland’s Italy manager Niamh Kinsella said.

“Publicity is an important element of our overall promotion- al programme, helping to raise awareness through the Italian media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in the west of Ireland.”

Last month, Tourism Ireland CEO told The Kerryman that Star Wars filming in the county had been seen by 104million people in the last year.

Mr Gibbons also pointed out Canadian television show ‘The Marilyn Dennis Show’ will be seen by 2.2million people having filmed at Killarney National Park and Moll’s Gap. Journalist­s with a combined audience of over 41million peole have visited Kerry in recent months have showcased Sheen Falls, Portmagee, and the Skelligs experience.

Tourism Ireland also estimates that 64,000 Britons read about Kerry in the July edition of The Sunday Times travel magazine, which highlighte­d the Dingle Peninsula.
