The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Almost €1,000 raised by Honda 50
THE annual Honda 50 Run is a perfect way of raising money for various charities, while also keeping alive the tradition of what is one of the most recognisable motor cycles there is – the Honda 50.
An enjoyable Saturday was spent traversing through the scenic terrain of Glencar, Rossbeigh and Cahersiveen as Honda enthusiasts from all over Ireland attended the event.
Tom Kelleher is one of the organisers, who along with Ger and Gene O’Sullivan take great pleasure in seeing Honda 50s taking to the road in huge numbers.
This is the fourth year of the run, but this year’s event managed to attract over 40 bikes - the biggest total yet, which the organisers are absolutely delighted with.
The Kerry Parents & Friends ‘Buy a Bus Campaign’ was this year’s recipient of proceeds raised.
“The weather was brilliant and everything went absolutely fantastic. We raised €920 this year for the Buy a Bus Campaign,” Tom said.
“It’s a great cause and these buses are a big part of people’s lives. As well as buying the buses, they must also be kept going once they’re on the road. We throughly enjoy it as it’s a great day out for everyonr involved,” Tom added.
Tom also singled out Maurice Foley, Slogadh Signs, and The Inn Between Bar for helping the Honda 50 Run event.
Plans are already well afoot for next year’s half a decade celebrations and the organisers are immensely pleased that their hobby helps in its own special way.
