Family fun at Puck Fair 2018 ...

-

KILLORGLIN’S annual Puck Fair festival boasts a lengthy and intriguing history steeped in Irish tradition, but in recent years the festival has become centered around three very important values: community, family and a whole heap of fun!

This year’s celebrations, taking place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th August, will be bigger and better than ever before, with the dedicated voluntary committee pulling out all the stops to ensure that families of all ages and stages, both from home and abroad, enjoy and revel in the traditional Puck experience. The recently-unveiled King Puck mural, which now resides permanently on the wall of the CYMS Hall in the town centre, will be a very welcome addition to this year’s proceedings and will no doubt act as a quirky and colourful backdrop for thousands of selfies over the course of the weekend. The opportunity to meet the real-life King Puck is also always a thoroughly enjoyable one for visiting families eager to get a photo with the famous royal.

When it comes to the range of events on offer, there is something for every age and interest. The Irish Dance, Circus and Afro Irish Drum workshops provide a fun and inclusive environment for kids and parents alike to get stuck in and learn a new skill. Those in search of an entertaining experience for tiny tots can enter the Bonny Baby Competition, pop along to the Puppet Show or stop for a photo with the Kingdom Party Pals, while big and little kids will be enthralled by the Wobbly Circus Street Show, Hakuna Matata Acrobats and the many live music acts taking to the town’s various stages over the course of the three-day festival.
