County Board PRO Leona Twiss with all the GAA news
OUR final game in the Super 8s is against Kildare and the game throws in at 6pm in Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday.
Kildare can’t qualify for the semi-finals, but they will be playing for pride and the desire to finish third in the group. Tickets are currently on sale online at tickets. ie, in the Kerry GAA Store Killarney and in the SuperValu and Centra stores around the county.
Adult tickets are €25 and Juveniles are €5. Student/Senior citizen tickets are available on the day. There will be no concession stile. Seating is not allocated so those arriving earlier will have the access to the seats in the stand. Once the stand has filled, people will be directed to the Terrace. There is no difference in price between the stand and the terrace.
Match programmes will be on sale for €5 with a percentage of the sales going to the Fitzgerald Stadium Committee for the maintenance of the grounds. The gates will open at 4pm and as always we ask patrons attending the game to follow the instructions of the stewards and to avoid parking in residential areas.
There are a number of road closures in the immediate vicinity of Fitzgerald stadium from 3pm. Please come early and park in the designated parking areas and enter the stadium early if you want a ‘good view’.
The team will be announced on the Kerry GAA website on Friday at 8pm. For last minute purchases, the Kerry GAA Store in Killarney will be open for business right up to throw in time so it gives all fans the opportunity to proudly wear their colours!
The game in Salthill also throws in at 6pm and Kerry supporters will naturally be hoping for a Galway win. If that was to transpire, the second place in the Group would be determined by scoring difference. The county that finishes second in the Group will play Dublin the following Saturday in Croke Park.
Garvey’s Draws
ON Monday the Garvey’s Senior Football Championship was launched at the Tralee Bay Wetlands.
Representatives from all seventeen teams were present. Kerry chairman Tim Murphy spoke of the great relationship that existed between Garveys and Kerry GAA since 2011 and hoped for it to continue well into the future.
Jim Garvey representing Garveys reminded all present how embedded the GAA is in the local community, very much the same way Garveys are also at the heart of the community.
The football draw was made by the Tim Murphy and Jim Garvey. Seventeen team names went into the Bishop Moynihan Cup. St Brendans and West Kerry must play a qualifier, which will be played on Tuesday August 28 or Tuesday September 4, to enter the Championship proper.
The draw is: East Kerry V St Brendans or West Kerry, Dr Crokes V St Kierans, Rathmore V Killarney Legion, Mid Kerry V An Ghaeltacht, Feale Rangers V Kerins O’Rahillys, South Kerry V Kenmare Shamrocks, Austin Stacks V Kenmare District and Dingle V Shannon Rangers.
The winners of Round 1 progress to Round 2A and the losers of Round 1 progress to Round 2B.
Cul Camps
NEXT Monday sees the start of Week Six with football camps in Kenmare, Castlegregory, Scartaglin, Duagh, Spa, Renard and Blennerville. Limited places available in some camps, please book online to secure your place or register on Monday morning at the camp.
