KILLARNEY LEGION

-

WELCOME NEWS: It was great to learn that Niall McGillicuddy had returned home - albeit for the short term after an extended stay in hospital in Cork. His many friends and club members were praying and hoping for good news and also keeping his family in mind.A hugely difficult time for them but they braved a situation that would try most with courage and unity and those that know the family would have expected nothing less.We continue to wish them well in the journey ahead and assure Niall,Sheila,Daithí,Jane and Ellen of our support and best wishes. CO.LEAGUE RD 9: Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-9 Killarney Legion 1-9

The penultimate county league game saw the seniors gather another deserved two points which effectively guarantees their Div.1 status.Turning in a fine first half performance they led 1-6 to 0-2 at the break. With Padraig Lucey as the ideal target man at full forward the forward play was lively and creative.Once they got into their stride they looked dangerous and slowly but surely the scoreboard tally increased.Dominant at midfield Billy McGuire and Jack O Neill certainly did their bit and it was the latter who rode a hefty tackle to deliver a telling ball which saw Finbarr Murphy cleverly slip the backs and he cooly slipped the ball to the net with a neat finish.A huge amount of the credit though must go to the Legion backs who were disciplined and hard working throughout turning over possesion numerous times as well as applying constant pressure.Foremost was Damien O Sullivan who hardly put a foot wrong and his reading of the game was top class.Denis Sheahan put in another tremendous shift and despite a lag in the performance at the start of the second half the Legion had the wherewithall to regroup and pull away again for the win.The team has been steadily improving and with a good number due to rejoin the panel it will certainly inject more energy into them as the various championships approach. ABHAILE ós na STÁIT AONTAITHE: An added bonus on the night in Glenbeigh was the return on holidays from the U.S.of Séan Brosnan formerly of Hibernian House,New St.and family. He was accompanied by his brother Donal who had a foot in both camps.Enjoy the break Séan and welcome home. SYMPATHY: The Killarney Legion Club
