AS with the Under 14 County Football Championship, the new format voted at last year’s Kerry Coiste na nÓg AGM has seen teams being graded into either the Cup or the Plate competition.

Following a meeting attended by representatives of all teams, the allocation of teams in the U-16 County District Football Championship is as follows:

Cup

Group 1: Tralee District, Kenmare District, St. Brendans, East Kerry

Group 2: West Kerry, Mid Kerry, Eoghan Ruadh

Plate

Castleisland District, Shannon Rangers, Feale Rangers, South Kerry

The competition will commence on Sunday, August 19 and will run up to Sunday, September 16.

Development Squads

BOTH Kerry Under 15 Squads played superbly, winning two matches apiece to qualify for the finals blitz on August 18: Kerry South 3-15 Wexford 1-3; Kerry South 2-8 Meath 1-8; Kerry North 1-11 Dublin 1-3; Kerry North 3-9 Laois 3-3.

Kerry South Under 14s are Munster Champions with Fossa’s Rian Colleran lifting the Jim Power Cup after a tremendous battle with old rivals Cork North. They beat Waterford and Tipperay to set up a tilt at Cork North.

This was always going to be a cracker, with Cork North having already beaten the lads in the group stage, but Kerry South’s hard work in the interim saw them win out by 3-8 to 2-1 with a tremen- dous display.

Great credit is due to the management, players, and supporters on their great achievements.
