EAST REGION U-14 LEAGUE FINALS DIVISION 1 Glenflesk 3-12 Fossa 1-9

PLAYED at Fossa the home side made the early running with two points from play (Harry Kelly, Seán Dineen).

Glenflesk opened with a Cian Lynch point. There were a scatter of points from Harry Kelly (2) and Peadar Kelleher from Fossa, and two from Glenflesk’s Dylan Roche. Glenflesk hit a purple patch, Cathan Harrington pointed on 20th minutes.

Dylan Roche fired an unstoppabl­e goal, after a strong run from Luke Crowley. Both added points. Glenflesk could have gone further ahead but for some good saves by Fossa Goalkeeper Dean Sheehan. A Darragh O’Connor goal saw the score at half-time Glenflesk 2-6 Fossa 0-5.

Fossa regrouped at half-time and goaled from the restart when a long ball from Rocco Sheehan travelled to the Glenflesk net. Dylan Roche kicked four points in succession off left and right.

Glenflesk goalkeeper Jack O’Donoghue made a fine save before Ryan O’Leary added a Fossa point. Harry Kelly (Fossa) traded two points with Dylan Roche. Fossa, to their credit, never gave up.

Seán Dineen pointed before a fine shot was stopped by a post. This could have cut the lead to three points. However, it was Glenflesk’s night and they rounded off the scoring with a Cathan Harrington goal, capping a fine all round team performanc­e. Seán O’Keeffe (East Region Coiste na nÓg) presented the shield to Glenflesk captain John Kelleher.

DIVISION 3 Firies 3-7 Kenmare 2-8

KENMARE and Firies served up great football in a game of four halves.

Firies had a dream start scoring 2-2 in the opening six minutes, Colm O’Shea and Stephen Palmer on target with two goals, while Kenmare’s Eoghan McCarthy pointed. Both defences denied scores before Kenmare levelled with a Darren Allman goal and four unanswered points from Eoghan McCarthy (3), Darragh O’Connell). Score at the break was Firies 2-2 Kenmare 1-5.

Kenmare started the second half with a Dylan Wallace goal and three points from Eoghan McCarthy (2) and Darragh O’Connor. A Firies goal by James Horgan, reduced the margin and the visitors gained momentum.

Five points without reply from Stephen Palmer (3), Colin Callaghan and Luke Ring gave Firies a two-point lead. Kenmare played to the final whistle but Firies held on and ran out winners. Sean O’Sullivan, Chairman East Kerry Coiste na nÓg presented the trophy to Firies captain Jack Costello.

DIVISION 4 Cordal / Scartaglen 5-7 Listry / Keel 1-9

CORDAL / Scartaglen got the better start and quickly had 3-1 on the scoreboard, in Cordal.

Michael Mahoney (2) and Brian McEnery goals, a point by Ryan Dennehy. Listry / Keel fought back with a Mark Murphy goal. Two points left the score 3-1 to 1-2 in favour of Cordal / Scartaglen after 15 minutes.

Listry / Keel dominated for the remainder of the half. However, they were unlucky on front of goal, putting only four points on the board. Cordal / Scartaglen’s Patrick Fitzgerald lopped the ball into the net leaving the half time score Cordal / Scartaglen 4-1 Listry / Leel 1-5

On resumption, the third quarter was tightly fought with both teams scoring two points each – Cordal / Scartaglen 4-3 Listry / Keel 1-7. Cordal / Scartaglen were on top for the final quarter and when Michael Mahoney struck for his third goal there was no way back for the visitors. Christy O’Leary (East Kerry Coiste na nÓg) presented the shield to Cordal / Scartaglen joint captains Trevor O’Sullivan and Redmond O’Connor.
