MUNSTER JUVENILE ‘B’ TRACK & FIELD

Seven of our young athletes took to CIT on sat. 7th July for the Munster ‘B’ Track and Field, Doireann and Niamh O’Shea, Cormac and Grainne Costello, Isaac and Ryan Vickers and Mairead Walsh. All did extremely well and represente­d the club with pride. Doireann made the final of U13 80m and jumped very well also in the Long Jump. Grainne competed in the U12 Turbo Javelin finishing in 4th and ran the 600m in tough competitio­n. Mairead was agonizingl­y close finishing in fourth place in the U12 60m and 600m. Cormac achieved a well deserved bronze medal in the U14 800m, while Niamh threw her way to an excellent silver medal in the U12 Turbo Javelin. Ryan produced two spirited finishes in the U9 60m and 300m to earn himself 2 silver medals while Isaac opened his account with a silver in the U10 Long Jump and finished with a fine win in the 600m.

NATIONAL LEAGUE ROUND 2

Round 2 of the National League was held in Athlone IT on July 8th. The Division 1 Kerry Men’s team did well and secured enough points to advance to the finals which will be held on August 19th in Tullamore. Club members who were part of the Kerry team was Rossa Foley who competed in the Javelin where he was first (46.39m) and Sean O’Shea came second in the Shot Putt (10.6m).

The Kerry Women’s team has also advanced to the finals. We wish team all the best.

GNEEVEGUIL­LA AC ANNUAL MILE RACE SERIES

tHE Gneeveguil­la AC Annual Mile Race series is in full swing with four of the five races completed. Aidan Cahill & Dermot Dineen are doing very well with mile times of 4:43 & 4:47 respective­ly and finishing in the top three places so far. Darragh Casey also competed in one with a time of 5:16. Final race will be in Gneeveguil­la on 1st August @8pm

NATIONAL JUVENILE TRACK & FIELD

Results from the National Juvenile Track & Field Championsh­ips. Siofra Foley was 9th in the U17 Discus (21.77m) and 8th Hammer (17.96m). Conall Whelan was 7th in the U16 Shot (11.14m) and 11th Hammer (22.14m). Doireann O’Shea was 14th in the U13 Javelin (16.72m). Aine O’Shea was 6th in the U15 Discus (24.89m). Cian Spillane was 7th in the U15 1500m in a time of 4:38.48 a new personal best. Well done to all who represente­d the club well in such serious competitio­ns.

NATIONAL SENIOR TRACK & FIELD

The National Senior Track & Field Championsh­ips were held in Santry over the week-end. David Kenny competed in the 10Km Race Walk where he had a fantastic race to finish in third place with a time of 45:56.73. Rossa Foley was 9th in the Turbo Javelin with a throw of 44.51m

KILLARNEY 10K & HALF MARATHON

The Run Killarney 10K and Half Marathon was held in ideal conditions on Saturday 28th July. There was a huge turnout for this annual event. In the Half Marathon, Dermot Dineen completed the 21K distance in 1:21:26. Brendan Lynch ran well to finish in a time of 1:27:14. Julie Deane ran a personal best time of 1:38:48. In the 10K race, Mary Daly was second lady finisher overall in a time of 38:34. Arthur Fitzgerald ran the distance in a time of 37:46
