1. BRILLIANT TIME IN STORE IN CAHERSIVEE­N

THERE is a great night store at the Cahersivee­n Festival of Music and Arts this weekend.

The festival will run from Friday August 3 to Sunday August 5 and will feature great musical acts such as Lisa McHugh (Friday night), Natty Wailer and the Reggae Vibes (Saturday) and Spring Break (Sunday).

The highlight of the festival is surely set to be the Irish National Opera at the O’Connell Memorial Church on Sunday afternoon - Gavan Ring and Tara Erraught are the headline acts here.

2. COFFEE MORNING FOR KILGOBBIN CHURCH

A COFFEE afternoon and cake sale will be held at the Old School in Camp on Monday August 6 from 10am to 4pm.

The sale will be in aid of of the Kilgobbin Church and there will be plenty of stalls, cake, face painting and a raffle taking place on the day.

Everybody is encouraged to come down on the day and have some fun.

3. FUNDRAISIN­G RUN IN ROBERT’S MEMORY

THE Robert O’Dowd Memorial 5k walk and 10k run will take place this coming Friday August 3 at 7pm and everyone is invited to come and take part on the day.

The run/walk will start at the Aquadome in Tralee and it is a fundraiser for the Palliative Care Unit; the 5k will cost €10 and the 10k will cost €20 and registrati­on is available online at ‘Primoevent­s’.

4. INFLATABLE COLOUR RUN IN KILLARNEY

THERE is surely great excitement in Killarney this week as the date of the ‘Kerry Inflatable Colour’ run draws closer and closer.

This event will take place on Sunday August 5 at the Killarney Racecourse on Ross Road; all ticket prices are available on the ‘Kerry Inflatable Colour Run’ page on Facebook.

5. KILGARVAN PREPS FOR ANNUAL SHOW

THE 34th annual Kilgarvan Show takes place this coming Sunday August 5 in O’Reillys Field.

Organisers of the event have promised a day of family fun and entertainm­ent from 11am onwards on the day.

6. BRILLIANT NIGHT IN STORE AT CAUSEWAY DANCE

ORGANISERS of a night of music and dancing in the Stretford End in Causeway this weekend have promised a brilliant night when they welcome dancers all the way from Canada.

The bar will open its doors to the St Pats Dancers from Newfoundla­nd on Friday August 3. The dancing will start at 9pm on will go on into the night; donations to help offset the dancers travelling expenses will be gratefully accepted on the night.

7. FUN DAY PLANNED AT MANOR WEST

A FAMILY day is being planned at Manor West to help welcome in some of the cyclists from the ‘Tour De Munster’ cycle.

The fun day will run from 2pm to 6pm on Friday August 10 and it will include samba dancers, zumba dancing, face painting, balloon modelling and much much more on the day.

8. MEMORIAL WEEKEND IN FINUGE

THE Sean McCarthy Memorial Weekend Festival in Finuge starts this coming Friday August 3 and runs until Monday August 6.

9. CELEBRATIO­N OF LIGHT FOR RECOVERY HAVEN

RECOVERY Haven is inviting all members of the public to come down to the Tralee Bay Wetlands on Wednesday August 15 for the seventh annual ‘Celebratio­n of Light’.

This event allows those who have been touched by cancer to come together and share their experience­s with others; this years event starts at 8pm with a performanc­e from the Kerry Choral Union which will then be followed by the lighting of the candles.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.
