CO.JUNIOR FINAL: Killarney Legion 3-11 John mitchels 1-11

The juniors travelled to the Mitchels for this county junior final and came away worthy 6 pt.winners. A bright start saw them jump into a 1-1 lead courtesy of a neat Micheál Devlin goal. However a couple on unforced erreors made life difficult as the Mitchels took full advantage and against the run of play the Legion trailed by a point at the break. Some tactical changes at halftime saw Kevin Breen partnering Sean McCarthy in midfield and Rob Leen going to wing forward these moves were to pay handsome dividends as all were to have a very strong second half,a feature of the junior side this year has been the nice mix of younger players with the more experienced and none more so than Darren Looney and Stephen McCarthy who netted 1-1. Ciaran Lyne, Finbarr Murphy and Adam Moynihan gave a steadiness to the side as all had senior team experience and it showed. Colm Ó Cuiv has become a most reliable fullback and his distribution being of vital importance to the side.A much deserved win for this group who were unlucky to lose another final after extra time but they made no mistake this time. Incidentally this highlight will be young Micheál Devlin’s last game in a Legion shirt for a while as he takes up his place in Georgetown University in the U.S.and we wish him all the very best in the future. Well done to dad Mike senior and his management team who had their squad ready and able for the final.

U14 EASTY KERRY SEMI-FINAL: The u14’s had a good win against Dr.Crokes in the East Kerry semi-final.Despite dominating possession and the play in general it took them a little time to transfer their dominance onto the scoreboard. When they did get going they registered a very healthy 4-7 to 2-4 at the break. Another early goal at the start of the second half by the Legion saw the 5 goal rule invoked and this resulted in them taking points rather than goals from then on.In the end they had a comfortable winning margin which saw them qualify for the final where they meet Kilcummin. CO.CHAMPIONSHIP: The first round county championship draw threw up an interesting pairing for us as we meet East Kerry neighbours Rathmore, recent history shows very little between the two sides and this should be another close encounter.

FIXTURE: Co.League Final Rd.Killarney Legion V Beaufort, Der re en, provision ally Sun .19 th. August. time to be announced. KERRY GO OUT: Not what Kerry supporters would have thought or wanted at the start of the super 8’s but alas Kerry have a long lay-off from competitive football ahead.Great to see James get his goal and with being on the field is definitely nudging closer to himself. Well done also to Brian who performed so well on his return between the posts. SYMPATHY: The Killarney Legion Club extends it’s sincerest sympathy to the Adams Family, Coo lg arrive on the sad passing of Declan,R.I.P.Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a Anam Dílis
