Knocknagoshel blossoms as Pattern Festival hits top gear

-

A GROUP of vintage car and tractor enthusiasts has got together in Knocknagoshel to organize the first ever vintage run in the parish.

The organisers have travelled to many vintage runs and are now ready to welcome everyone with a vintage car or tractor to Knocknagoshel Village on Saturday, August 18, from 6.30pm. Entry costs €10, and all the proceeds will go to Down Syndrome Kerry.

The route they have picked out will take in the highways and byways of Knocknagoshel, and the organisers are expecting it to be an enjoyable tour around the area. They’re also planning to make the run an annual event with the proceeds going to a different charity every year. For further info you can ring (087) 971 4255.

Today, Wednesday 15, meanwhile is Pattern Day in The Mall, and the annual sports take place at 6pm in Willie Walsh Park.

Also on Pattern Day Wednesday, the Knocknagoshel Women’s Group and Over-55 Club will holding their Annual Pattern Day Lunch at the community centre at 12.45pm, with a four-course meal and evening tea. Music on the day will be supplied by Stevie Donegan. All of the above is for just €10, and everyone is welcome on the day. For more details, contact Mary on (087) 974 0296.

Tomorrow, Thursday 16, is Horse Fair Day, and a large crowd is expected in the village from early morning, with a car boot sale also taking place throughout the village.

At 1pm the village sports take place in Walsh’s Field, with lots of fun guaranteed for the young and young at heart.

Friday night, August 17, will see a new Pattern Rose crowned in O’Connor’s Bar. The following day Saturday, August 18, will have the annual 5K run/walk from the community centre at 12pm. This is a timed event.

At 6pm on Saturday evening, the aforementioned Vintage Car and Tractor Run is departing from the village for a tour of the local countryside.
