The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

50k Route ...

-

RUNNERS will start on the Tralee to Fenit greenway (known locally as the skinny mile) and go to the Bracker O’Regan road (known as the fat mile). Runners head for Monavalley Industrial Estate and take a left at FÁS and continue to the roundabout, going through to the other side and taking the next left turn to go up Doon. At around 9k they take a left turn continuing straight, crossing the Abbeydorney road until they arrive in Ardfert. In Ardfert they take a right and head to the centre of the village, where they take a left turn and stay on that road. They meet the 100k route at about 15k and will take a right turn for Barrow and Tralee golf club at around 16k, up Barrow hill, turning around at the golf club and coming back down the hill to head for Churchill. In Churchill they take a right turn at the graveyard (approx 23k) and head for Fenit. At the junction with the main road, they go right and into Fenit village, going down the pier to the St Brendan monument. They turn around and come back up the pier and head for Tralee. After passing the Oyster Tavern they turn onto The Kerries and down to the tax office. This is at approximately 39k, and here they take a right turn and head for Blennerville. Taking a left turn, they pass up by the football club and keep going straight around the two right-angled bends. They will then take the second left turn (approx 46k) and head past the stud-farm and down Caherwisheen and out by Lidl. Here they take a left turn into the small park and down the river walkway as far as FBD house. They take a right to go to the traffic lights and an immediate left heading for the Aquadome. Runners then cross the road to the Brandon car park, and the finish line is into the town park and up the Neil Armstrong Way.
