WORLD HANDBALL
The World Handball Competitions took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A.has been a phenomenal success with Dominick Lynch, J.J Quirke and Jack O’ Shea winning World One - Wall and 40 by 20 handball titles. Congratulations to all three players on their tremendous success winning five gold, one silver and one bronze medals, with players still involved in world’s doubles competitions
ONE - WALL: Dominick Lynch and J.J.Quirke won their first World Master ‘’A’’ doubles title. They recorded good victory in defeating Niall Kerr and Eamon Mc. Cory, Co Tyrone 21-3 219 Jack O’ Shea was unlucky to loose to Fergul Coughlan, Co. Clare in mens ‘’A’’singles final.40 BY 20 Dominick Lynch defeated Lorgan Foley, U.S.A. 21-1 16-21 11-10 to win his third world over 35 ‘’A’’ singles title. Jack O’ Shea defeated Daniel Hayes, Co Tipperary 19-21 21-13 11-2 to win his first world mens ‘’A’’ singles title.
OVER 35 DOUBLES: Dominick Lynch and Gavin Buggy (Co. Wexford) won their 3rd. Over 35 World Double Title. They defeated John Joe Quirke and Paul Grampham, (C0 Antrim) 21-11 21-18. In a close contest they then defeated Chris Tico and Emmett Pecxota U.S.A. 14-21 21-18 11-8 to claim the world title.
MEN’S ‘’A’’ DOUBLEJack O’ Shea and David Walsh (Co. Waterford) lost to Eoin Connelly and Pat Hayes (Co Galway) 2119 21-12 in World’s Mens Double semi-final.
HOMECOMING: These great handballers will return home this Thurday and the club will be organizing a homecoming reception.
