Sincere sympathy to Mary Fitzgerald of Scarriff, her husband Jack, daughters Teresa, Angela and Joanne. To Sheila O’ Sullivan of Inchaboy, her husband Donal, sons Michael, Denis and Danny and daughter Maria Cronin, on the death of their brother Francis Curran of Lyre whose remains were removed from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home to St. Michael’s Church Dungegan on Monday August 13th. Fr Patsy Lynch and Fr Padraig Sugrue celebrated his Funeral Mass on Tuesday and he was laid to rest in the Abbey Cemetery. Sympathy also to his brother Michael (Lyre), sister Hannah (U.K.) nephews, nieces, grandnephe­ws, grandniece­s, neighbours and his many friends. Suaimhneas siorai da anam dilis.

Waterville’s 8th annual Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival begins on Thursday 23 August and runs until Sunday 25 August. The festival includes a hugely entertaini­ng range of events, film screenings, workshops, comedy, Guinness World Record Attempt The largest gathering of people dressed as Charlie Chaplin and Chaplin themed street entertainm­ent and much, much more.
