AC Athletic 3 Killorglin 1

AC Athletic got the new season off to a great start after a good win over Killorglin who had a number of key players out with injuries.

AC went ahead in the 21st minute when David Egan got to the end of an accurately measured cross and he headed to the roof of the net.

Killorglin equalised in the 35th minute when a foul on Anthony Abojunin in the box led to a penalty kick. Dave Coffey took the spot kick and it was blocked by the AC keeper but he was in quickly to drive the rebound to the back of the net.

Killorglin were back in the game now but shortly afterwards they were struck a blow when David Coffey had to be stretchered off and Dan Whittleton was brought in to replace him.

The second half went very similar to the first with AC putting Killorglin under a lot of pressure. They put the game to bed with a brace of goals, the first a great strike from Joseph Diggins before John Buckley scored from a corner kick to ensure victory for the Causeway side.
