Urban finals down for decision in Austin Stack Park

THE Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Urban finals are down for decision this Wednesday in Austin Stack Park. At 4pm Duagh take on Faha. At 5pm Réalt na Maidine Listowel v Fossa. At 6pm Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn v Holy Family Rathmore. At 7pm Scoil Eoin Balloonagh v Scoil Mhuire Killorglin.

In the 6/8-Teacher semi-finals Duagh the North Kerry champions defeated Currow while Faha overcame Sliabh A’ Mhadra in the second semi-final.

In the Division 2 Urban semi-finals Scoil Eoin Balloonagh defeated The Monastery Killarney while Scoil Mhuire Killorglin defeated St. John’s Kenmare.

In the Division 3 Urban semifinals Gaelscoil Aogáin were defeated by Holy Family Rathmore and Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn overcame Dromclough.

In the Division 4 shield Scoil Réalt na Maidine Lios Tuathail defeated Caherleahe­en and Fossa overcame Milltown.

In the 2-Teacher football semi-finals Shrone were defeated by Scoil Náisiúnta An Clocháin and Scoil Náisiúnta An Fhaill Mór defeated Derryquay.

In the 3-Teacher Knocknagos­hel play Asdee with the winners taking on Ceann trá in the semi-final while Scoil Téalt na Mara Tuath Ó Síosta take on Knockanes in the second semi-final.

The quarter-finals of the 4/5-teacher competitio­n were completed this week. A very well balanced team from Scoil Eoin Baiste, Lios Póil defeated Scartaglen NS in John Mitchels GAA pitch on Monday. Beaufort GAA hosted a double header on Wednesday. Loughitane NS lead Glenbeigh NS by 1-4 to 0-5 at halftime thanks to excellent scores from Oran Horgan and some great goalkeepin­g by Caolán Mitchel. After a very exciting second half where the teams were level on five occasions, impressive displays from Harvey Mangan in goal, Seodhla O’Donovan and Jamie O’Sullivan helped Glenbeigh win 4-9 to 4-6. A feature of this half was two excellent goals by Loughitane’s John O’Sullivan.

The second game proved just as exciting. In a high scoring game Aghatubrid, with Fintan O’Sullivan to the fore lead by 6-2 to 3-10 at half time but in a brilliant second half helped by outstandin­g forward Pierce Moynihan Barraduff emerged winners 5-22 to 8-6, despite the best efforts of Aghatubrid’s excellent goalkeeper David Murphy. Diarmaid Furlong, Cian O’Connor and Brian Murphy also played a huge part in their victory.

2017 Allianz Cumann na mBunscol shield winners St. Brendan’s NS, Fenit hope to go one better this year. They defeated a young team from Tarbert NS at Crotta GAA pitch on Friday in a scoreline of 5-14 to 3-7.
