Lixnaw’s Munster adventure starts
THE big hurling game of the weekend will see Kerry senior champions, Lixnaw, take on Cashel King Cormac’s (Tipperary) on this Sunday, 28 October in Round 1 of the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship. The game goes ahead at Lixnaw where there will be a 1.30pm throw-in.
In the Munster Junior Hurling Championship quarter-final, Kilgarvan will have an away fixture against the Limerick champions, Tournafulla, on Saturday, 10 November. Full fixture details at www. munstergaa.ie
The County Intermediate Hurling Plate Final between Austin Stacks and Ballyheigue B will take place on this Friday at Caherslee, 7.30pm with extra time if necessary.
South Kerry
KILGARVAN are the 2018 South Kerry Senior Champions following their 2-23 to 0-12 win over Dr. Crokes in the final played at Fitzgerald Stadium last Saturday. The winning lineout was: Shane O’Sullivan, Flor O’Sullivan, Patrick O’Shea, Liam Twomey, Seán Casey, John Mark Foley, Jack O’Brien (0-1), Gearóid Fennessy (0-1), Con Godfrey (0-2), Richard O’Sullivan, Keith Harrington (05), Christopher Creedon, Daniel Casey (0-3), Seán Godfrey (0-4), Dónal O’Sullivan (2-6). Subs: Connie Cremin, Padraig Dillon (0-1), Michael Godfrey, Martin Godfrey. Management team is Mike Foley, Flor O’Brien, Pat Twomey, John Foley, Adrian O’Sullivan. Match referee was John Ross (Ballyduff).
North Kerry update
THE second qualifying group in the Tom Healy U-15 Hurling Tournament was played on Friday evening last at Healy Park, Abbeydorney. Four teams competed – St. Brendan’s, Kilmoyley, Lixnaw and Ballyheigue. After each team played each other, St. Brendan’s and Ballyheigue qualified. Semi-finals on this Friday at 7pm - St. Brendan’s v Crotta and Ballyheigue v Abbeydorney; Shield Final [losers of above] at 7.30pm and the Cup Final [winners of above] at 8pm. The Tournament s hosted by Abbeydorney GAA Club and sponsored by the North Kerry Hurling Board
There are a number of games fixed for this weekend in North Kerry competitions. The Jun- ior League play off between St. Brendan’s and Causeway is scheduled for Ardfert on this Saturday at 3.30pm. [winners to play Lixnaw in the Final]. The Under 16 play off between Abbeydorney and Ballyduff is fixed for Sunday at 11.30am. at Kilmoyley [winners to play Ballyheigue in the Final]. Coaching
THE Tralee Parnell’s Autumn Hurling Academy Week 2 takes place this Friday at the Tralee Sports Complex. It is open to new and current players and a hurley and helmet will be available for new players.
For Under 6 (2012/2013/2014) - indoor training for boys and girls from 6 to 6.45pm.; Under 8 (2010/2011) - indoor training for boys 6.45 to 7.30pm; Under 10 (2008/2009) - Astro pitch training for boys 6 to 7pm.
