MINOR ‘C’ CHAMMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL Glenflesk 6-28 Spa 3-10
PLAYED under lights in the superb facilities in Spa, the Tatler Jack East Kerry Minor C Championship semi-final saw Glenflesk overcome home side Spa.
Despite a strong start, home advantage couldn’t stop the scoring onslaught from Glenflesk to pull off a very impressive win to gain a spot in the final. Spa got off to a dream start with a point from Ryan Kelliher, quickly followed by a great goal from Cian Murphy.
However, the Glenflesk response was immediate and devastating. A point from midfielder Alan Murphy and a goal from centre-forward, Patrick Darcy. The Kerry Minor, Darcy was very dangerous throughout the game and rifled through the Spa defence scoring a massive 3-4 in the first half.
Spa never gave up with great scores from Oisin Walsh, Ryan Kelliher, Liam Spillane and Cian Murphy. However, the visitors were on form and ended the first half ahead: Glenflesk 5-11 Spa 1-7.
The second half commenced with Glenflesk slotting over numerous points, without reply. Glenflesk’s goalkeeper Mark Kelliher pulled off great saves, denying the home side a number of goals.
These would have helped the home sides scoreline. Spa played with heart, and notched up two further goals, but couldn’t match the talent of Glenflesk on the night.Final Score: Glenflesk 6-28 Spa 3-10. This result means that Glenflesk progress to the final next Saturday against Currow at 3pm.
