Killorglin in seventh heaven after crushing Dynamos

-

THIS all Kerry clash fell short of expectations with Killorglin winning the game with relative ease.

Tralee Dynamos started brightly and Killorglin goalie Tony Lyons was called into action after five minutes and he made a fine save from a Dynamos free kick. Unfortunately he had to cry off with an injury after 20 minutes and Ricky Flaherty assumed duty between the posts.

After a period of sustained pressure Killorglin went ahead in the 24th minute with a fine strike from Eoin Clifford. Dynamos then got some constructive football together but things were breaking down in the final third of the pitch.

Killorglin doubled their lead in the 35th minute and it was a family affair with Mike Carey setting up his brother Lee and he slotted the ball home.

Their third goal came five minutes later and it was a replica of the previous one with Lee Carey again finding the net leaving the Launesiders in a comfortable position 3-0 ahead at the interval.

Tralee Dynamos gave themselves a life line early in the second half when they scored from the penalty spot. However, it was flattery to deceive as the Tralee side could not cope with the talent of Lee Carey who completed his hat-trick after splendid approach work by Audie Dunlea and Jamie Clifford.

Killorglin then put the game to bed when the energetic Dylan O’Sullivan who put in a great shift headed home a fantastic Eoin Clifford cross.

Dynamos did not give up the fight and pulled a goal back with a fantastic free kick.

Killorglin used their bench after this with Evan Madden making his senior debut.

Man of the match Lee Carey scored his fourth goal while Manus Gallagher rounded off a fine performance with his first goal on his debut with the Killorglin senior team.

Killorglin had some great performers on the day with youth’s players Tim O’Shea and Eoin Clifford looking very comfortable at this level and also Seán Turner who had a fine game stepping up from last year’s B team.
