A FEAST FOR THE PALATE
CELEBRATING THE BEST OF LOCAL PRODUCE AT LISTOWEL FOOD FAIR ‘18
CELEBRITY guests, some of the region’s best food producers, a plethora of entertaining foodie demonstrations and informative talks - all culinary eyes are on Listowel yet again as the town prepares to host what will be its 24th annual Food Fair.
Running from Thursday, November 8, next until Monday, November 12, the Food Fair will also have a special focus this year on the issue of breast cancer - with an awareness workshop on prevention and screening as part of its programme.
“The Food Fair was established back in 1995 to celebrate the rich agricultural heritage of North Kerry and to support and promote local artisan food producers,” founding member and chairperson Jimmy Deenihan said.
“The Food Fair committee also established the first Farmers’ Market in Listowel and has consistently promoted Listowel as a gourmet destination. Last year we sponsored a very successful social media campaign to promote the many restaurants we are fortunate to have in the town.
“Over the years some of the leading TV personalities and celebrity chefs have taken part in the Food Fair. This year is no different. Minister Michael Creed, Simon Delaney, Catherina Mckiernan, Collette Twomey are but some of our celebrity guests,” Jimmy added.
Meanwhile, young cooks and consumers will be involved more than ever before with 400 secondary students taking part this year thanks to the Food Fair’s Schools Food Academy which has been reaching out to post primaries across Kerry. For more visit www.listowelfoodfair.ie.
