New home for Kenmare Rowing
IT took a united front but Kenmare rowing club have finally settled into their new home at Kenmare Business Park.
The ever growing club has finally got a place to call home which will incorporate their new clubhouse and gym to help give their athletes a place to train and meet.
Up until now the club were reliant on Kenmare GAA club for their gym and they had no permanent place to meet. Now they have a new base which was offically opened last Saturday. They have moved their rowing equipment in and are hoping in time to add to this through sports capital funding.
“It is a huge boost to us. We have a lot of new junior members and now they will have a place to train in the winter,” said PRO of the club, Clive Johnston.
This year the club, which has 60 members, will train all year round with indoor training at their new gym and water training when weather permits. With an ever growing list of talented rowers new facilities are important and will help their talented rowers progress. Many of the club’s rowers have already represented their country including Georgia O’Brien, Eimer Crowley and Tom Kelly and the club is now hoping that they can help other aspiring rows makes waves on the water. New club members are welcome and the club can be contacted through Clive on 086 1762360.
