The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
David’s Canadian rowing adventure
VICTORIA Island is an extremely large island situated in northern Canada in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
Slightly larger than Great Britain, it is the eight largest island in the world and Canada’s second largest.
David Hussey – the cox, coach and general manager of the El Nino Rowing club of Portmagee – has for many years now competed at events throughout the coast of Ireland and, of course, many regattas in the waters of Iveragh and Kerry.
He recently visited Victoria Island to compete in the World Coastal Rowing championship’s Single Sculls event and was accompanied by Paddy Dennis of Knightstown, a loyal friend of long standing.
David has also competed at events in Peru, France and Monaco.
He looks forward to next year competing in the World Coastal Rowing Championships in Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong, and also he also said he intends to take in the rugby World Cup in Japan.
