Kit Commando goes fast in A1 event to spark meeting to life

-

FRIDAY night’s 10-race programme was an all-graded affair on what was a damp evening at the Brewery Road venue. A run of 28.72 by Kit Commando (Droopys Nidge/ Unique Breda) in Race 8 kicked the card into life and the subsequent two races also provided sub-29 second winners.

The Mossie O’Connor trained Kit Commando hadn’t enjoyed the best of form recently and broke a six-race losing run when scoring in this A1 contest. Drawn on the rails he made up for a moderate break to produce a good turn off early foot to challenge for supremacy at a congested opening bend. He came off best from a bump with Clorane Daddy in trap 2 and the 6/4 favourite was a couple of lengths clear of the field as he began his dash down the back straight. The race was over as a contest at this point and the battle in behind was merely for placings as Kit Comman- do began to turn the screw on his rivals. The winner tracked superbly well through the closing bends and stayed on stoutly through to the line to claim victory by 7 ½ lengths from Swiss Storm.

Coolmore Blaze, who had been well off the pace early on in the race, ran on well to complete the trio a further 2 ½ lengths in arrears. The winner is owned by the Glenflesk based William O’Connor Syndicate.

Knocknacree Sky (Paradise Madison/ Louisemygirl) upset the odds in impressive fashion when scoring in Race 9 for Abbeydorney handler Dan Brassil. Again, he hadn’t enjoyed much luck in recent outings and this was reflected in his starting price of 4/1. Sporting the black jacket, Knocknacree Sky was quick to find his feet from trap rise and was well to the fore on the dash to the opening bend. His momentum was halted somewhat between the opening bends as the Bark/ Wahlberg Syndicate owned runner was forced to check. However, he was quick to recover and swiftly took up the running again just off the second bend. He raced powerfully down to the third bend and had his rivals well strung as they struggled to keep in touch. The winner extended his lead with every stride up the home straight and stopped the watch in 28.96.

Joint 6/4 favourites Mayfly and Lassa Excitement trailed home the winner by 6 lengths and 2 ½ lengths respectively.

The final race of the evening was a five-runner event with trap 3 being vacant. Tims Ranger (Tullymurry Act/ Trionas Soprano) looked ideally housed in trap 4; however he made a sluggish start and surrendered further early ground when running wide into Pawsfordell in the orange jacket on the run down to the bend.

All the early pace was been shown by Lisahane Secreto on the rails and Tims Ranger found himself in last position running into the opening curve. He improved his cause by one position between bends, but it was down the back straight that he really caught the eye as he diced his way through the field to get very much back in contention. He stalked the early leader rounding the final curves and made his move to the front as Lisahane Secreto moved wide off the last.

The Christy Brosnan owned Knocknagoshal runner was full of running up the home straight and finished the contest in 28.96. Samba Active ran on to take second 2 ½ lengths off the winner while Lisahane Secreto was all out back in third a further length and a half back.

Other winners on the night were Milridge Astro 18.58, Westwind Maxi 29.13, Aughacasla Diane 29.66, Toremore Rising 18.07, Thatsthedeal 29.52, Rocket Hero 29.07 and Hawthorn Brandy 17.99.
