RAMBLING HOUSE

The next Rambling House get-together in The Heritage Centre in Scartaglin will be on Monday night November 12th. As always admission is free with a raffle and refreshmen­ts on the night. Everyone welcome. Please note for the winter season, starting time will be 8.30pm.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglin GAA Club’s next Lotto Draw will be on this Sunday November 11th in Lyons Bar when the Jackpot will be €5000. Ticket sponsor is Dromhall Hotel Killarney.

SELF CARE DAY

There will be a Self Care Day at Ardfert Retreat Centre on this Saturday November 10th from 9.45am to 4pm, with Anna O’Donoghue IACP. The course will deal with practical skills to promote self-care and well being. For further informatio­n and details, Contact (087) 9447105.

CHRISTMAS COOKERY DEMO

Top Chef Mark Doe will give a Christmas cookery demonstrat­ion in Scartaglin Heritage Centre on Thursday night November 15th commencing at 7.30pm. This presentati­on is in associatio­n with Scartaglin Ladies Football Club. If you want to get top tips for all your Christmas cooking, this is the venue and a date for your diary. Tickets are €10 and are available from club members.

DEATHS

The death took place last weekend of Maura Horan (nee Crowley) of Brosna Road Castleisla­nd and Coolnagera­gh. The late Maura who was 88 was predecease­d by her husband Denis, by her daughter Catherine and by her sons Denis and John and by her brother Pa. The deceased is survived by her daughter Carol, by her sons Fr Michael, Moss and Paudie, by her sisters Noreen, Betty and Sr Kathleen and by her brothers Denis and Connie, and by her extended family. She was laid to rest in St Johns Cemetery Castleisla­nd.

The death took place last weekend of Margaret Duggan (nee O Connor) of Knockrour East and formerly of Knockrour West. The late Margaret was 94 was pre-deceased by her daughter Nora McSweeney and by her husband Mikey (the Sliabh Luachra Fiddle player). The deceased is survived by her sister Kathy, by her son in law Pat McSweeney, by her grandchild­ren Padraig and Niamh, by her nephews and nieces and by her extended family. The late Margaret was laid to rest in Scartaglen Cemetery on Monday last. May they Rest In Peace.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

Janice and Moss Carrig will be present at an Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglin on Sunday November 18th. Starting time as usual is 2.30pm with The Rosary and everyone is welcome.

TEA DANCE

The next Tea Dance organised by the Sliabh Luachra Actived Retired Network will be on Sunday next November 11th with the venue being the Lyracrompa­ne Resource Centre. This Tea Dance is being hosted by Lyracrompa­ne Community Care.

VARIETY SHOW

There will be a Variety Show in Scartaglen Heritage Centre on Friday night November 16th . Tickets cost E10 and are available from The Heritage Centre or from Julianne on 087 9126184.

HANDED DOWN

The next Handed Down programme in The Heritage Centre will take place on Saturday night November 17th . This programme will be about the life and times of the late Dan Murphy of Main Street, Abbeyfeale and the presenter is the late Dan’s son, Donal.
