Kerry punter turns 25 cents into an €8k bonanza
THERE have been plenty of stories recently about lucky punters winning big on the Irish lottery by playing with the bookies, but one Kerry punter might have pulled off the biggest such win ever seen in the county.
With the odds of actually of wining the Lotto being astronomical – and picking three or four numbers usually offering up only small prizes – many players are opting to bet on the Lotto results with the hope of pulling in significantly larger prizes.
Last Friday evening saw a Kerry Boylesports punter pull off a remarkable betting coup on that night’s draw.
The punter placed the tiny bet in a Boylesports shop in the Kingdom for Friday evening’s EuroMillions main draw.
The savvy lottery gambler – who wishes to remain anonymous – placed a 25 cent accumulator bet on the draw picking the numbers five, eight, 26 and 30 to be plucked from the lottery draw machine.
Incredibly the gambler’s bet paid off and all four numbers were produced in the draw.
His bet – at astronomical odds of 33,000/1 came off and his initial stake of just 25 cents turned into a massive €8250.25 pre-Christmas windfall.
Boylesports have congratulated the customer who they said must have been waiting very nervously to see if their “minuscule” bet could “overcome massive odds” and turn into an absolutely huge win.
“We are absolutely thrilled to see our Kerry customer land €8,250 for the loose change stake of just €0.25. We are sure they will put their winnings to great use and hope it makes for an extra-special Christmas,” said Aoife Heffron of Boylesports.
While a remarkable win in itself, Friday’s coup wasn’t the only big lottery win to be seen in a Kerry Boylesports outlet in recent weeks.
Just a fortnight ago there was another huge win in the county when a €5 treble –once again on the EuroMillions draw – saw another punter rake in €7,505.
We’re sure both punters will have a very enjoyable Christmas with plenty in the piggy bank to ensure a festive season to remember in the Kingdom.
