The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Victory song and DVD captures St Mary’s drive for five adventure
FIVE-in-a-row is something rarer than a hen’s tooth. That’s unless of course you happen to be a member of St Mary’s GAA club where right now they’re toasting an epic accomplishment.
Last Saturday the Cahersiveen men landed their fifth straight South Kerry Championship title when overcoming a spirited Dromid side. It’s the first time that any team in South Kerry has managed to win The Jack Murphy Cup on five successive occasions since its inception in 1964.
To celebrate, local photographer and videographer, Christy Riordan has produced a priceless memento of memorable footage from all five games that helped in the drive for five. Included in the DVD is realms of coverage over the past five years depicting the best scores, plays, interviews and all the drama. There is even a strong Valentia twist to the DVD as the 1993 winning Valentia Young Islanders team were commemorated at half-time during this year’s final. This special commemoration, including footage from ’93 final, is also featured in the DVD.
This is a perfect keepsake dedicated to a major sporting achievement. It’s something every St Mary’s fan – home and abroad – will want for their collection. It can be taken down from the shelf years from now when the dust has settled allowing you to relive a magical journey all over again.
But that’s not all, Christy has also teamed up with Tommy James and Eddie Lee to produce a especially dedicated song to St Mary’s unique achievement. The celebratory song is available on CD and is also included within the DVD itself where it’s played to the best of the action. And unlike a certain 5-in-a-row victory song from 1982, this song will be remembered for all the right reasons! “It’s a fantastic occasion for St Mary’s. They won everything in the last four years and I think this is the icing on the cake as it’s never been done before. It’s been a pleasure working on the DVD and CD as they now help to preserve an amazing and historic achievement. People interested in purchasing them can get in touch with me,” Christy Riordan said.
The DVD and CD can be bought at www.christyriordanvideos.com and in local outlets.
