Mountain festival launch in Killarney

THE launch of Killarney Mountain Festival 2019 has taken place and all roads lead to Killarney this March 8-10 for an exciting celebratio­n of everything mountain and adventure- related.

This year’s festival will be run in close associatio­n with the successful and world-renowned Kendal Mountain Festival in the beautiful lake district of the UK (which is twinned with Killarney).

The 2019 festival programme features a line-up of amazing guest speakers, some the most renowned adventurer­s in the world, film screenings, family fun events, challenges including a 10mile race on Sunday morning in associatio­n with Hardman Events, guided walks with KerryClimb­ing.

A Quest Adventure Race for kids as well as live music entertainm­ent by local band ‘The Rising’ on Friday night at Basecamp will also feature over the weekend.

“Having had such a fantastic festival in 2018, we are really looking forward to this year’s festival. It’s clear that there’s huge excitement and anticipati­on ahead of the weekend,” said Killarney Mountain Festival Committee Chair, Maureen Hegarty.

Killarney Mountain Festival is sure to inspire and invigorate visitors with its jam-packed programme of events, some of which are free, such as live musical entertainm­ent across the weekend.

Venues for the various events taking place include Basecamp - the hub of the festival - located in a large festival tent just behind The Killarney Plaza Hotel. St Mary’s Church of the Sloes, The Killarney Plaza Hotel, Cinema Killarney, as well as pop up events in various venues - all located in Killarney Town Centre
