Castle to take on Dingle in ‘18 final

THIS Sunday Castlegreg­ory will play Dingle in the Lee Strand West Kerry League Final of 2018 in Castlegreg­ory at 2pm.

This has the makings of a great game of football with Castlegreg­ory under the guidance of new manager Gavin O’Connor hoping to topple Seán Geaney’s Dingle, the reigning West Kerry champions of 2018.

Castlegreg­ory have started the year well with a comprehens­ive win over Annascaul and a two point defeat to An Ghaeltacht. O’Connor has brought a lot of experience and enthusiasm to his team with his appointmen­t and will be hoping that his charges rise to the challenge.

Dingle have had two wins from two games this year and Seán Geaney will be hoping to add the league title to last year’s championsh­ip crown.

League 2019

ROUND 2 of the Lee Strand West Kerry League took place last weekend with An Ghaeltacht beating Castlegreg­ory in Castlegreg­ory, 1-12 to 2-7, and Dingle beating Annascaul in Lispole by 2-13 to 0-11.

In Round 3 Lispole will play An Ghaeltacht in Lispole next weekend. Castlegreg­ory play Dingle in Castlegreg­ory next Sunday at 2pm in a game that doubles up as last year’s West Kerry League Final and this year’s Round 3 game.

Lee Strand have been proudly sponsoring the West Kerry League since the mid 1980s. Speaking at the event in Paul Geaney’s, Dingle, Lee Strand’s Jerry Dwyer said that they were again very happy to continue their sponsorshi­p of the West Kerry League and promote our games and healthy living in West Kerry.

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Jack Barry and Diarmuid O’Connor who were part of the Kerry Senior Team who defeated Tyrone on Sunday in Killarney. Also to our hurlers who had a wonderful win up in Antrim. These were Eric Leen, Fionan Mackessy, David Griffin, Jordan Conway, Niall O’Mahony, Dan Goggin.

It was with deep regret and sadness that we learned of the death of our great friend and former player Diarmuid Lawlor of Kilmoyley. He was a teak tough defender in the 1950s and played in two county football finals. RESULTS Senior League
