Remaining draws in Cups and Shields

LAST week we looked at the draws for the Jimmy Bruen and Pierce Purcell Shields and this week we look at the remaining events.

Beginning with the Senior Cup which is of course the Blue Riband event of Irish Inter-Club golf and the action in West Munster takes place this year at Kanturk where eight teams have entered.

It gets underway on Saturday June 22 at 8.30am when Dooks take on Tralee, followed by Doneraile versus Berehaven (9.10am), Killarney versus Kanturk (9.50am) and finally Ballybunion against Newcastlewest at 10.30am.

The Junior Cup takes place at two venues, Tralee and Doneraile on the following weekend (June 29 & 30).

Beginning at Tralee on Saturday morning, where the hosts take on Ballybunion at 8.30am.

This is followed by Killorglin versus Ballyheigue at 9.10am, Waterville versus Dooks at 9.50am and Ceann Sibeal versus Castlegregory at 10.30am.

At Doneraile, the hosts play Castleisland at 8am, Kanturk play Newcastlewest at 8.40am and Killarney play Berehaven at 9.20am while Kenmare have a bye into round two and will play the winners of the Killarney/Berehaven match.

The Barton Shield takes place this year at Castlegregory on the weekend of July 13th and 14th where Tralee play Kanturk at 8.30am, Killarney meet Newcastlewest at 8.40am, Ballybunion take on Kenmare at 9am and Dooks meet Doneraile at 9.10am.

Berehaven have a bye and await the winners of the Tralee/ Kanturk match.

The Munster finals of the Pierce Purcell and Jimmy Bruen Shields will be played at Nenagh on July 20th while Tramore will host the Munster finals of the Junior Cup, Senior Cup and Barton Shield on August 24 and 25, while the Irish Mixed Foursomes provincial finals will be played at Castletroy on August 10th.

The draw has also been made for the Michael Cashman Cup (All-Ireland Inter-Club Fourball) and in West Munster the fixtures are as follows :

In Round One, Killarney play Ballybunion, Doneraile play Be- rehaven and Newcastle West play Ceann Sibeal while in Round Two, Kanturk meet the winners of Killarney/Ballybunion, Ballyheigue meet the winners of Doneraile/ Berehaven, Dooks take on Killorglin and Tralee play the winners of Newcastle West/Ceann Sibeal.

All Round One matches must be played by June 2 and all round Two games must be completed by June 16.

There will be a re-draw after Round two and the Munster finals of this event will be played at Mitchelstown on September 1.
