The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

Why painted frames will look a picture on your walls…

-

THE majority of home and apartment owners will have at least one if not several picture frames hanging on their walls. These images contain special reminders of family and social occasions and are usually of sentimental value to the owner. Pictures really add a touch of character to interior décor. Moreover, they can be made to look even more spectacular with just a little time, effort and some paint.

The majority of picture frames come in black or cream colour. There is nothing wrong with this except they look a bit flat when taken in the context of your surrounding décor and colour schemes. Some people prefer a basic colour scheme for picture frames, while others view the frames as part of an overall colour scheme in the home.

It’s just a suggestion, but have you thought about painting picture frames in bright red, green or yellow? Have you ever thought about spraying frames in gold or silver? This can look really impressive. Some people opt for a two colour scheme. For example, let’s say you choose red and green. Every second frame is painted in these colours - it adds a degree of uniformity to pics. You might not think it at first, but it gives a much nicer finish then a simple black, brown or white coloured picture frame hanging on walls. Give it a try. Inquire at your local DIY shop about the best paint for the job. Simply use tape to protect the glass where it meets the frame and apply a few coats. Job done – a simple and scenic solution to boring picture frames.
