The Kerry Branch of the Samaritans who are entirely dependent on the Church Gate Collections held at Christmas Masses would like to thank you for your generosity, the amount raised in Glencar was €553.24 Glenbeigh €874 .31.
HANBBALL CLUB
Players from the club had great success in their respective handball competitions during the week.
MUNSTER COLLEGES: The Munster Colleges singles and doubles handball competition were played at Dungannon, Co Waterford Conna, Co. Cork on Saturday. Congratulations to Tommy Quirke and Sean Quirke, Milltown Presentation School on winning the Munster Collages Senior Doubles title. They played Jamie Moylan and Oisin Hallahan St. Agustine’s Collage Co. Waterford in semi-final.
The Kerry pair were slow to settle in first game but made a brillant recovery and won 22-21.. They then played Mark Rodgers and Conor Downes, Scarriff Community Collage, Co. Clare in Munster which was a touch and close contest with the Kerry boys winning 14-12 to record a brillant victory.
FIRST YEAR: Congratulations also to Darragh Lynch, Killorglin Community Collage on winning The Munster Collages First Year Competition. He defeated Counties Tipperary, Clare and Cork players to record a brillant victory for Killorglin Community Collage.
INTERMEDIATE SINGLES: Jack O’ Shea easily defeated Shane Hedigan, Co. Cork 21-5 21-4 in Munster Intermediate Singles Quarter Final at Glenbeigh
FIXTURE: Kerry Juvenile players will travel to Dungannon, Co. Waterford this coming Saturday 2nd. February to play Co. Waterford in MunsterJuvenile Championship. Sean Quirke and Darragh Lynch will represent Kerry in under 16 years Doubles.
MASTER SINGLES: J.J. Quirke will play Jamie O’ Donnell Co. Cork in Munster Master ‘’A’’ Singles At Ballydesmond, Co. Cork.AWARDSThe Kerry County Council Municipal Districts Achievements Awards Presentationd Night took place at the Rose Hotel Tralee on Thursday night. Congratulations to Dominick Lynch, John Joe Quirke and Jack O’ Shea on being presented handball awards in recognition of their World and All-Ireland successes. in 2018. Thanks to Councillor Michael Cahill on nominating the players for this award.
