Government to blame for driving hard working nurses to the picket lines

-

SIR,

Shame on the Government of this country on its treatment of the nurses of Ireland.

Heroes are all the 400 nurses who were out in the cold and wet last week outside.

There is a lack of recruitment and retention of nurses throughout the country. The nurses are the backbone of the health service. They are there 24/7 working unsociable hours, dealing with life and death on a daily basis and they are taken for granted.

I believe that the citizens of this country are not getting sufficient care. Our professional carers are leaving to go to Australia and Canada because they are respected more and paid properly.

This government has led the nurses to strike, they are taking a stand for the citizens of this country, they are striking for the future of the public health service.

Hero’s all, Sincerely,

Jimmy Adams,

Oak Park,

Tralee
