The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Keane acknowledges Kingdom’s 16th man
IF you’re on any of the social media channels you’re probably already aware of the short video doing the rounds since Sunday evening of Peter Keane at the top of the Kerry Supporters Club coach at Breffni Park, thanking the occupants for making the long journey north and for their vociferous support of the team when the fat was in the fire. It should be noted that Keane – and chairman Tim Murphy – boarded board Supporters Club buses in Cavan, and acknowledged those who made their way there independent of the Supporters Club’s official trip.
It should also be noted that Keane was just following in a long line of Kerry managers who have acknowledged the travelling fans. Ogie Moran, we are informed, was the first to do so, followed by Páidí Ó Sé, Jack O’Connor, Pat O’Shea and most recently, of course, Éamonn Fitzmaurice.
