No batter way for locals to spend Pancake Tuesday
LOCALS in Killarney are invited to attend a very special Pancake Tuesday event on March 5 as the Killarney Soroptimist group hold a fundraising pancake event in the Killarney Avenue Hotel.
An annual event which stretches back more years than one of the organisers Sheila Casey can remember, last years event managed to raise almost€2,000 each for two charities.
This years event is a little different as the group have chosen to raise funds for only one group - but a very worthy group at that, St Mary of the Angel’s in Beaufort, and in particular, the hydrotherapy pool in the facility there.
“We felt that they do a lot of good work in Beaufort and that they needed money. Some of our older Soroptimists actually went out and visited the centre and they came back and said that this was a group that we should definitely raise money for,” said Sheila.
“I’ve no idea how much will be raised from the day but every little bit helps hopefully. The hydrotherapy pool down there is very important and with the money we raise, we just want to keep it going,” she continued.
“We’ll be looking forward to a good attendance on the day and it should be a fantastic morning.”
The morning will run from 10:30 to 12:30 in the Killarney Avenue.
Killarney Soroptimists are a local group in the town that organise different events that help to raise funds for local charities.
