Garvey’s staging memorial for friend and colleague Mary Buckley-O’Keeffe

-

MANAGEMENT and staff of the Castleisland branch of Garvey’s SuperValu are calling for the support of the general public as they organise a March 2 memorial walk for a valued member of staff.

Mary Buckley- O’Keeffe worked in the Castleisland store up to the time she lost her battle against the illness in the autumn of 2018.

“We are having a memorial walk for Mary on March 2 at 11am from Castleisland Community Centre, and we’re appealing to the people of the locality to help us remember our dear friend and work colleague,” said branch manager Séamus O’Connor.

“All the proceeds from the walk will go to Recovery Haven and the Kerry Cancer Support Group.

“We have a fantastic community spirit in Castleisland and the surrounding areas, and we are counting on this to make the day a massive success,” he continued.

“We aim to raise as much money as possible for these fantastic organisations, which help families every day of the week.

“On the day there will be loads of spot prizes to be won, and a free barbeque after.

“We’re really grateful to recent and current Kerry football stars Aidan O’Mahony, David Moran and Kieran Donaghy, who will be there on the day for a meet and greet.

“Bring the family, and help support Recovery Haven and the Kerry Cancer Support Group.

“The walk is open to people of all ages, with loads of fun to be had afterwards and some amazing spot prizes to be given away,” Mr O’Connor added in conclusion.
