Come out to support hurlers in Fitzgerald Stadium double-header

FOLLOWING their easy 3-27 to 1-11 win over London in their Allianz Hurling League Division 2A round 4 tie last Saturday, the Kerry senior hurlers’ campaign continues this weekend with a home game against Meath. It will be played on Sunday at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney where there will be a 1pm throw-in time.

It will be the curtain raiser to the Kerry v Monaghan Allianz Football League game. Admission to this double bill will be just €15 if bought in advance at www.gaa.ie or from Centra & SuperValu outlets. Admission on the day is €20. All Under 16s have free admission.

Fitzgibbon Cup

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Kerry and Lixnaw senior hurler, Shane Conway and his UCC colleagues on winning the Fitzgibbon Cup Higher Education Hurling Championsh­ip last Saturday by defeating Mary Immaculate College, Limerick in the final 2-21 to 0-12. It is a great honour for Shane and his club and county. Well done to all involved.

Féíle na nGael

THE 2019 national Féile na nGael Hurling tournament is being hosted by Cork & Kerry from June 7 - 9. The John West Féile na nGael is a club festival for Hurling at Under 14 years of age level. Teams from every county in Ireland as well as overseas are invited to take part.

The national Féile committee, appointed by the Uachtarán of CLG has overall responsibi­lity for the organisati­on of the tournament and a local organising committee is appointed to manage much of the day to day activities. Further details will be available over the coming weeks.

North Kerry

THE North Kerry Hurling Board has announced the dates for its 2019 Under 10 Blitz competitio­ns.

Blitz No. 1 will be hosted by the Abbeydorne­y Club on Saturday, June 15. St Brendans will host Blitz No. 2 at Ardfert on Saturday, July 6. The third Blitz will take place at Caherslee on Saturday, September 7 and it will be hosted by the Tralee Parnells Club. All will have 10.30am starting times.

Clubs

DUAGH Hurling Club will hold their medal presentati­on night on this Saturday, March 2 at 8.30pm at O’Briens Bar, Duagh. The team will be presented with South Kerry Junior hurling League medals from 2018 as well as the Co. Senior Hurling League Division 3 medals.

Coaching

THE Level 1 Foundation Coaching course continues at the Ballyheigu­e GAA Clubrooms on this Thursday evening, February 28 and on Saturday morning, March 2. The course tutors are Maurice Leahy and PJ Ryan.
