Churchill and Laune Rangers lead the way at head of Division Four

-

DIVISION 4

BOTH Laune Rangers and Churchill remain with 100% starts as Duagh are the only other unbeaten side after the second round of fixtures.

Skellig Rangers 2-4 Laune Rangers 2-10

A WINNING trek to Portmagee for the Killorglin side as they managed to find the back of the net twice in the second period. The visitors had the better of the scoreboard in first-half but a Darragh O’Sullivan penalty kept Skellig in touch at half-time trailing by 0-7 to 1-3. Shane McSweeney and Daire Cleary goaled for the Mid Kerry side in the second-half however as O’Sullivan ended up scoring all Skellig’s total on the day with 2-4.

Churchill 2-16 Waterville 1-11

TWO divisions separated these sides last year, but it is Churchill who continue their strong start up from Division Five as Waterville finished the game with 13 players following the dismissals of both Alan O’Dwyer and Eoin O’Sullivan for the visiting South Kerry side. Ivan Parker’s goal in the first-half had given Churchill a lead of 1-8 to 0-3 at one point but a Sam Dwyer goal did give Waterville some hope at the break trailing by 1-10 to 1-6. The St Brendans side’s second goal killed the game off a contest however in the second period.

Tarbert 2-6 Duagh 0-12

AFTER defeating Finuge in their opening encounter, Duagh emerged with something from another North Kerry derby, this time leaving Tarbert with a point and nearly snatching victory in the end. Although Duagh had good spells in the first-half they trailed by 2-2 to 0-6 at the break, Andrew Doherty and Paddy O’Connell

with the Tarbert goals. The hosts needed a late free from Ger O’Sullivan for the game to end in a draw though.

Castlegregory 0-12 Finuge 0-14

A TIGHT affair between two former All-Ireland Junior Club Championship winning clubs as Shane Conway put over a late insurance point for the visitors in a two-point win.

Finuge had led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the break but it could have been more if it was not for two fine saves from Castlegregory goalkeeper Shane Kenny. The hosts lost Patrick O’Donoghue to injury but did push hard for a positive result late on through scores from Anton Kelliher and Jimmy O’Grady.

Renard 1-18 St Michaels/Foilmore 1-5

A MUCH different experience for St Michaels/ Foilmore in another South Kerry derby as despite beating Valentia by 17 points in their opening fixture they went down by 13 points to a Renard side in fine form on home turf.

Valentia Young Islanders 0-10 Cordal 3-9

VALENTIA were thankfully able to field again at the weekend, but home advantage made no difference to the outcome as Cordal led by 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time. The East Kerry side would go on to win by eight points in the finish, adding a third goal in their win.

NEXT Up

WHEN the Club Championship campaigns are done by the weekend of May 12th, Laune Rangers will head for St Michaels/ Foilmore while Churchill will travel to Duagh in Round 3. Waterville will host Valentia as Skellig Rangers will head up to Finuge as Cordal host Renard and Tarbert travel west to Castlegregory.
