Easter Charity Walk to raise funds for Cromane centre

- By SINEAD KELLEHER

THE newly built Cromane Community preschool is this year’s beneficiary of the annual charity walk to St Finian’s Holy Well on Easter Monday from the Red Fox Inn in Glenbeigh.

The new state-of-art building, which will open shortly, will provide a much-needed childcare service to the Mid Kerry area. The purpose-built centre follows a lengthy campaign by the local community for the service, and the funding from this year’s charity walk is a boost to the development.

“We are very grateful to be chosen as the beneficiaries of this year’s Holy Well Walk,” said Cromane Community Preschool Chairperson Mary Counihan.

“It is a wonderful day out for all the family, and we encourage everyone to come along and support it.”

This is the sixth year of the walk, which has already raised over €18,000 for local charities.

The walk takes in an 8km looped route from the Red Fox Inn to St Finian’s Well, where there will be a special Mass in keeping with traditional Easter celebrations.

Work took place in recent years to revamp the historic and religious site, and this led to a new annual walk to the local attraction.

Following the walk there will be refreshments at the Red Fox and live entertainment with Celtic Steps.

Bus transport will be in place for anyone who wishes to attend the Mass but is unable to partake in the 8km walk.

Entry costs €20 per family, €10 per adult and €5 per child.

Registration for the walk takes place at the Red Fox from 11am
