Former Sem pupil is new charity CEO
KILLARNEY MAN ANNOUNCED AS HEAD OF THE IRELAND FUNDS, A GLOBAL CHARITY ORGANISATION
A KILLARNEY man has been named as the CEO of one of the world’s largest charities organisations, The Ireland Funds.
David Cronin takes up the role of President and CEO of worldwide charity in June.
The Ireland Funds is a global philanthropic network established in 1976 to promote and support peace, culture and charity throughout the island of Ireland, and Irish-related causes around the world.
David, who grew up on Loreto Road, has worked in philanthropy for the last decade, raising and investing over $100 million through his role as Chief Executive of UL Foundation, working closely with Chuck Feeney, Atlantic Philanthropies and the worldwide Ireland Funds. David is also a member of the Munster Rugby Commercial Board.
Having been awarded the St Brendan’s Scholarship, David began his career on Wall Street, where he worked as an equities and options trader for Wall Street Access. He returned to Ireland in 1996 to take up the role of Chief Operations Officer with QUMAS, a tech start-up specialising in governance, risk and compliance management, which was acquired in a multimillion-Euro deal by Dessault Systems.
David’s father, Denis Cronin, is a retired AIB Bank Manager, former President of Killarney Golf Club and a serving Trustee of Muckross House.
David said he is delighted to take up the new position.
