A NEW LOOK FOR COUNTY FAIR
PREPARATIONS are well underway for the year’s Kingdom County Fair which will see the start of a four year plan to develop the event and turn it into one of the country’s premier county fairs.
This year’s event takes place on May 12 at Ballybeggan Racetrack in Tralee and it promises to be one of the biggest and best county fairs to be seen in Kerry for many years.
The official launch of the fair took place at the Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee on Monday night.
Speaking at the launch Kingdom County Fair Chairman James Tarrant said he was very excited about what lies ahead for the historic event.
“We are really looking forward to this years show,” said James.
“The Kingdom County Fair is now in its 71st year and we have just initiated plans which will over the next four years to develop the Fair to be one of the leading County Fairs in the country,” Mr Tarrant said.
“In addition to all our normal activities this year we have new activities and new sponsors amongst them Macra na Feirme, Horse Sport Ireland (HIS) and Captain Brian Cournane of the Glen Beigh Farm in Florida,” James told The Kerryman.
The Kingdom County Fair is organised by a dedicated committee of volunteers who spend months putting together a jam packed line up that reflects every facet of life in the county.
Going on the huge crowds that have attended the fair in recent years its expected that some 4,000 people from all corners of the country will descend on Ballybeggan.
