NATIONAL POETRY DAY

The unique setting of the 12th century Romanesque church site on Church Island on Lough Currane in Waterville will be the venue for celebratin­g National Poetry Day on Thursday, 2nd May. Music will be played on a unique instrument, a fidula modelled on the stone carving the ‘fiddler stone’, which has been on the island for centuries.

A shuttle bus will leave from Waterville Community Centre at 11.30am and boats will be leaving from The Bungalow from 12.00pm. Bring a packed lunch.

If the weather is unsuitable the event will take place in St Michael’s Church, Waterville at 2.00pm. The event is being organised as a curtain raiser for the second Amergin Solstice Poetry Gathering: Éigse na Gréine which will take place in Waterville, 20th 23rd June. Fáilte roimh cách. Ballinskel­ligs Community Care have put in a request for volunteers to deliver the Meals on Wheels for the Ballinskel­ligs Community Centre.
