The death has taken place of Bridie Cronin, Bouliculla­ne, Farranfore. The removal was from O’Connors Funeral Home to St Gertrude’s Church and after Requiem Mass on Friday to Ardcrone cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her family, relatives and friends.

WALK

Firies Ladies GAA will hold a fundraisin­g walk in aid of Roisin Collins on Saturday 20th April at 12 noon from the GAA field Farranfore. Roisin is part of the under 12 panel and recently underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her back and now requires follow-up treatment in Germany.

The walk will be about 5k on the old/bog road route and we are asking for donations of 10eu (adults) and 5eu (children) from club members and the wider community. If you cannot walk on the day, donations can be given to Firies ladies committee members, coach or manager. Your support is greatly appreciate­d. Any queries, please contact Fiona 087 2196 385.

HOLY WEEK IN ART An illustrate­d talk by Dr Nora Donnelly, College of Art Belfast and Mary Immaculate College Limerick will take place in St Brendan’s Pastoral Centre, Tralee tonight Wednesday 17th April at 7.30pm . Admission is free and all are welcome.

BALLYHAR DYNAMOS FC

TEAMS- Our U12s on saturday last exited the shield when being defeated by killorglin B on a scorline of 5-1 with Eugene Deniel scoring our goal, on the day all played well with Sean o Sullivan, Henry Walsh, Sean Barry and Gearoid o Connor excelling. The U12 season has concluded. Thanks to Dan and John for organising this group.

Our U9s/10s hosted Fenit Samphires on Saturday last in their final get together of the season in a series of mini games. Thanks to Dan, John, Sean and Brian for coaching, overseeing and arranging this group.

Our U16s have been drawn away to St Brendans Park in the semi final of the Tucker Kelly cup to be played at a future date.

The Kerry U17s who have been after a recent good run lost out at home to Cork City FC on sunday last going down on a scoreline of 5-0. Conor Henderson was on the first eleven with Patrick o Connor included on the match day squad.

FIRIES COMMUNITY GAMES

MODEL MAKING: A big congratula­tions to Padraig O’Shea who last week competed in the U14 Model Making and came an amazing 4th. A fantastic effort and well done

INDOOR SOCCER: Its finally the weekend all of Firies has been looking forward too. Yes its the Munster Finals of the Indoor Soccer and Kerry and Firies are ably represente­d by our own U13 Girls - Katie Doe, Laura Flynn, Sarah Palmer, Kerri Breen O’Riordan, Aoife O’Sullivan, Emma O’Brien, Clodagh Moriarty and Aideen O’Brien and their management and coaches Bernie Doe, Jason O’Brien and Seamus O’Brien. The Draw for the day is as follows: 11am Clare Vs Limerick the winner to play Cork at 2pm in the first Semi-Final 11.45am Tipperary Vs Waterford the winner to play Kerry (Firies) at 2.45pm in the second Semi-Final 4.15pm The Final between the winners of the Semi-Finals. All games are to be played at the Tralee IT Sports Complex, so if you are free this Saturday 20th April, please feel free to go along and support them. The Overall winner will go on to represent Munster in the All Ireland Finals in Limerick.

GAELIC FOOTBALL: This year we are putting an U10 Mixed team into the competitio­ns. The dates you need to be available are Monday 3rd June (Bank Holiday Monday) and if the team makes the finals also on Friday 7th June. Players (must be under 10 as of the 31/7/2019). Details and trial dates will be available shortly so keep an eye out on the Facebook page.

ATHLETICS: The date has been set for our annual athletics meeting for Tuesday 6th May starting promptly at 6.00pm at the Firies GAA Pitch. This event to be run effectivel­y requires volunteers to help on the night. You do not need an athletics background, just bundles of enthusiasm and loads of energy.
