HOLY WEEK

Times of ceremonies for Holy Week in the local churches are as follows: Holy Thursday Castleisla­nd Church, Mass of the Lords Supper at 8pm. This ceremony will include a blessing of Eucharisti­c Ministers.

Good Friday: Castleisla­nd Solemn Celebratio­n of the Passion at 8pm. Stations of the Cross by candleligh­t from 9.30pm to 12 midnight. Cordal: Stations of the Cross 3pm. Scartaglen: Stations of the Cross 3pm.

Easter Saturday : Castleisla­nd Church Vigil Mass and ceremonies for the Vigil of Easter commence at 8pm. Easter Sunday masses as usual in each of the three churches.

AFTERNOON OF PRAYER

Janice and Moss Carrig will be present for an Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglin on Sunday next April 21st (Easter Sunday) commencing at 2.30pm with The Rosary Everyone Welcome.

DEATHS

Recent deaths were those of Peter Cronin of Irrabeg Lixnaw and formerly of Knockacorr­in. The late Peter had been ill for some time. The deceased played Senior Football with Scartaglin in the 1960’s. He is survived by his wife Josephine, by his sisters Sheila, Mary Ann and Margaret and by his brothers Michael, Connie and Jimmy and by his extended family. Burial took place in John Paul II Cemetery Listowel.

The other recent death was that of John Buckley of Tureenglan­ahee, Ballydesmo­nd and formerly of Coolnagera­gh. The late John was a member of An Garda Siochana some years ago. He was a popular and regular contributo­r to the monthly Rambling House in the Heritage Centre. The late John is survived by his wife Breda, by his sisters Mary and Anna, by his brothers Dan, Denis, Dave and Ned, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Burial took place in Ballydesmo­nd Cemetery. May they Rest in Peace.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglin G.A.A. Club’s next Lotto Draw will be in Lyon’s Bar on Easter Monday, April 22nd when the Jackpot will be €6,400.

CEMETERY MASSES

The Annual Open Air Mass in Kilsarcon Cemetery will be celebrated on Monday evening, May 27th at 8pm. The date for the Annual Mass in Scartaglin Cemetery is Saturday August 10th at 10am.

AWARD RECIPIENT

Congrats to Scartaglin Senior Footballer Eddie Horan who was presented with the Rory O’Connor Memorial Trophy for Fresher Football Player of the Year at the I.T. Tralee Sports Society Awards held at Tralee I.T. College recently.
