Kilcummin claim U-16 title after late winner floors Fossa

EAST KERRY U-16 DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONSH­IP FINAL Fossa 3-10 Kilcummin 0-20

PLAYED in Farranfore in excellent conditions Kilcummin got off to the better start and led by four points after eight minutes, with all scores coming from the excellent Cian Foley. Fossa got on the scoreboard in the 10th minute with a point from Jack Clifford, and they were awarded a penalty in the 11th minute which Ryan O’Leary converted. Cian Foley added another point from play but from the next attack Fossa had the ball in the Kilcummin net from their midfielder Rian Colleran. With 15 minutes gone the score read Fossa 2-2 Kilcummin 0-5.

The next 15 minutes were was an even affair, but Kilcummin added five points while Fossa added two, though they were denied goals on a couple of occasions by Kilcummin goalkeeper Jaden Tynan. The half time score was Fossa 2-4 Kilcummin 0-10

The first period of the second half saw Kilcummin get a bit of breathing space as they led three points at the three-quarter stage. It was Fossa 2-7 Kilcummin 0-16 at that stage, but Fossa fought back from four down to draw level with time almost up, with Harry Kelly scoring the goal and Rossa Bellew punching the equaliser.

Extra-time beckoned but Kilcummin had another attack which ended with substitute Jack Fogarty kicking the winning point. Fossa had one last attack but they kicked a wide.

Christy O’Leary of East Kerry Region Board presented the trophy to Kilcummin captain Cian Foley.
