Jack Duggan Monument Fundraisin­g Table Quiz

With the Bronze Full Life Size Jack Duggan Monument ready for installati­on in Castlemain­e village in the coming weeks, a final push is on to raise a small bit more money to complete these works and cover any other associated costs with the end of the project. With this in mind, the Committee will be holding a Table Quiz on Friday, October 25th in Knightlys Bar and Restaurant at 8:30pm. Tables of 3/4 are priced at €30 with Finger-Food and a Raffle also taking place on the night.

We would appeal to all members of the public both near and far to support this fundraiser if at all possible as we are almost ready to get the Monument put into place in the very near future so its the final push. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

30 YEARS ANNIVERSAR­Y

Castlemain­e United Soccer Club will celebrate their 30th founding .anniversar­y on Saturday, November 30th 2019 at The Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Tralee commencing from 7:00pm marking three decades of Soccer in the village of Castlemain­e from 1989 - 2019. More informatio­n to follow.

CASTLEMAIN­E EVENTS COMMITTEE

Castlemain­e Events Committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, October 17th at 9:00pm in Castlemain­e Community Centre. Nai Ionad Na Cille: Keel Community ChildcareN­ai Ionad Na Cille are hosting a fundraisin­g table quiz on Friday, October 18th at 8:30pm sharp in Murphy’s Bar Boolteens with both spot prizes and a raffle on the night. Tables of 4 are priced at €40. All support welcome.

LIFT SCHEME

The LIFT scheme (Local Individual Flexible Transport) is available Monday - Thursday (Inclusive) from 8:00pm - 12 midnight should any member of the community require travel.

CCÉ CILL ÁIRNE

A new centre for Kerry Comhaltas The Dúchas centre was officially opened in Tralee on Wednesday last, with a celebratio­n of music and dancing our over 35s all Ireland champion set dancers featured in the celebratio­ns together with numerous other dancers and musicians

Director General of Comhaltas Labhrás O’Murchú officially opened the centre and spoke of the importance of our traditiona­l music dancing and singing and our native language.

The centre is located in the Kerry Sport Academy building at IT Tralee North Campus and comprises a 150 seated theatre, a large stage, and sound room and storerooms.

Adult set dancing classes will recommence in the Torc Hotel, next Monday, October 7th, further details from Ann Mangan 087 9403508, Junior set dancing classes for beginners recommence soon in Spa clubhouse with Triona and Mairead, contact 0876808962 or 087 6554545

Torc Set Dancing Festival is celebratin­g their eight-year this November, with three Ceili and Three set dancing workshops. The festival runs from 15th to 17th November hosting Johnny Reidy Ceili Band on Friday night The Abbey on Saturday night and the finale ceili sees The Kingdom Ceili band on stage. The festival also boasts three-set dancing workshops with Timmy Woulfe. Please contact Joan at 086 8718819 for all festival inquiries.

Our next branch meeting which is our AGM will take place on Tuesday 15th October at 9 pm in The Meeting Rooms Park Road, all members are requested to attend.

KILLORGLIN CCE

Killorglin branch will be holding their AGM on Friday October 11th in the Seán Scoil, Sunhill, Killorglin. Any interested parties are very welcome to come and chat. MUSIC CLASSES COMHALTAS GROUP MUSIC If you are interested in joining a Céilí Band, Grúpa Cheoil or Session Group please message us or contact Deirdre on 086 7326803 as these classes are number dependent and will only go ahead if there is sufficient interest. These classes are ideal for children already learning an instrument who wish to further develop their skills, experience the social element of Irish music, expand their repertoire and perform or compete. We also organise open sessions throughout the year which are suitable for music students. These will be posted as events so keep an eye on the facebook page.
