1. BALLYMAC GAA READY TO ENJOY ‘RUN BALLYMAC’

THE people of Ballymac will be lacing up their running shoes next month when they take part in the ‘Run Ballymac’ event on October 13 which is being organised by Ballymac GAA.

The day will allow runners to choose from either a half marathon, a 10k, 5k and a very casual family fun run/walk for all the family to enjoy.

Finishers of the 10k and the half marathon will receive a finishers top; registrati­on for this event is available online or by contacting a member of Ballymac GAA.

2. BLENNERVIL­LE NS TO HOST ‘CHASE’ EVENT

BLENNERVIL­LE NS’s ‘The Chaser’ event will take place on Friday October 18 in the Rose Hotel and will be giving those brave enough to take part, the chance to win up to €1,500.

Six contestant­s for ‘The Chase’ will be chosen at random from the audience, while the big bad scary ‘Chasers’ will be all local personalit­ies.

3. DROMTRASNA CHALLENGE TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS

THE 2019 Dromtrasna Challenge will take place later this month on Saturday October 19; this years event will be in aid of the Milford Care Centre and St Ita’s Day Care Centre in Abbeyfeale.

4. COFFEE MORNING IN BALLYBUNIO­N SCHOOL

THE parents associatio­n of Scoil Íosagáin in Ballybunio­n will hold their annual fundraisin­g bake sale this Sunday October 13 in the school hall.

The morning will run from 10am to 1pm and tea, coffee and cakes will be on offer to help make it a relaxing Sunday.

Everyone is welcome to attend on the day.

5. FUNDRAISIN­G TABLE QUIZ IN FARRANFORE

FARRANFORE GAA will host a fundraisin­g table quiz in the Sherwood’s Bar & Restaurant in Farranfore this weekend.

The quiz will take place at 8pm on the night of October 10 and a four person table on the night will cost just €30.

If you are in or around the area, be sure to call in and lend your support for the local team.

6. RATHMORE TO HOLD ANNUAL FASHION SHOW

THE Rathmore branch of the ‘Friends of the Children of Chernobyl’ will hold their annual fashion show in the community centre in Rathmore tomorrow night, Thursday October 10.

The event will kick off at 8pm with tickets set to cost just €12; they are available to buy from Betty on 087 632 3922 or from Mairead on 086 065 3369.

7. COFFEE MORNING TAKING PLACE MILLTOWN

THE Nagle Rice Community Centre in Milltown will host a coffee morning in aid of the Kerry Hospice Foundation this coming Friday October 11 from 9am to 1pm.

Everyone is welcome to come and attend this great fundraiser in aid of the Palliative Care team at the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

8. NIGHT AT THE DOGS FUNDRAISER THIS SATURDAY

A NIGHT at the dogs in aid of LB Rovers campaign to purchase land to develop into a field for future teams will take place at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee this Saturday October 12.

The land is hoped to be developed into pitch facilities so that future boys and girls can develop their skills.

9. ALBERT HAMMOND TO PLAY INEC

FOLLOWING on from his stellar show in the same venue last year, Albert Hammond will once more return to the INEC in Killarney on Sunday October 20, 2019.

Tickets for the show are currently on sale from the INEC box office for just under €35; doors will open on the nigh at 7:30pm while the show itself will start at 8:30pm.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends? There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.

People can register and print off their run barcodes at parkrun. ie.
