COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL: East Kerry have reached the semi finals of the county championship after gaining revenge on Dingle for last years loss with a ruthless win in Tralee. Glenflesk had three starters on the team and each of them were very impressive. Chris O Donoghue once again played well at corner back. As part of an impenetrable East Kerry back line, he beat his direct opponent to most of the fifty fifty balls and got a crucial block down in the second half. His use of the ball was also top notch with very few stray passes. Brian O Donoghues work rate was huge at wing forward and was fouled for the free that opened the scoring. He also tracked back to help support the defence and played one lovely pass in the second half that led to a brilliant score. At full forward Darragh Roche was in flying form. He scored nine points, five from play, and had three further assists. His scores came off both feet and his link up play with David Clifford gave the Dingle defence headaches all evening. Shane Courtney also came on late in the second half. Congratulations to all the squad and confidence will be high now going into the semi final against St Brendan’s, who they already played once this year

EAST KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP: Glenflesk 3 -- 16 Fossa 3 -- 13 Glenflesk’s minor team produced a come back for the ages to advance in the East Kerry Championship against Fossa on Sunday afternoon in a gripping encounter. Glenflesk got the opening score early. Patrick Darcy, a day after scoring four points for the senior’s, coming through the middle before popping the ball between the posts. Fossa’s reply was immediate. Full forward Emmett O Shea scoring two quick frees before Richard Wallace found the net for the visitors. O Shea and Killian Buckley were finding space at will at this stage and their finishing was clinical. They added a second goal after a goalmouth scramble to build a commanding lead. Glenflesk needed to get a score of their own to build some confidence and it came after wing back Ivan Crowley’s powerful burst ended with Darcy burying a shot to the back of the net. They got another chance to get even closer soon after. A high ball came in towards goal and Kevin Bowler snuck in behind his marker only to be pulled back as he was about to shoot. A penalty was awarded. Bowler, who scored two penalties for the under sixteen’s last Sunday stepped up again. He hit the penalty well but it just flew past the post. A big chance had gone. Fossa would lead by two nine to one six. Glenflesk needed a quick start to the second half. They didn’t get it. Fossa instead added a third goal as wing back Rian Colleran shot found the back of the net. The chance of a comeback now seemed remote. It was started by two magnificent long range points from Eoin Moynihan. Fossa then lost the ball thirty metres from their own goal and after a few quick passes, Kevin Bowler found himself one on one with the goalie. Unperturbed by his penalty miss he coolly finished the chance and it was game back on. A once one sided match now was very much in the balance. Dara Tangney scored a lovely point under pressure before Marc Kelliher converted his third forty five of the day. Fossa got an important score from Eoghan Myers to bring the sides level again. Patrick Darcy then evaded tight Fossa marking to score the point that gave Glenflesk the lead again. Another big score from either team would now decide it. It was Glenflesk who got it. Tommy Bowler’s cross field pass was won by Darcy who composed himself to find the net despite the intervention’s of two Fossa defenders and the goalie. There was still time to go though. O Shea scored twice more for Fossa, but they couldn’t engineer the goal chance they needed. After what seemed like an eternity the final whistle blew. Glenflesk had completed the impossible recovery. Heartbreak for Fossa then, who will be bitterly disappointed to give up such a commanding lead. For Glenflesk there will be an amazing sense of pride at delivering this turnaround. Early in the second half they trailed by three ten to one seven and even the most die hard supporters at the game were losing hope. Most importantly, the players themselves had not given up hope. The defence was far tighter in the second half with Killian O Sullivan particularly impressive. Up front the forwards work rate pinned Fossa in and chances that were created were finished well, even under pressure. Those who turned up to watch will be glad they were present to see such a second half performance of fight and skill. EAST KERRY LEAGUE U13 Glenflesk 1 -- 15 Listry 3 -- 9

Glenflesk under thirteens have finished joint top of their East Kerry League after drawing with Listry Keel after a pulsating sixty minutes. This match was due to played a few weeks ago so anticipation was high to see who would come out on top in a repeat of there incredible under fourteen final from earlier in the year. It was Listry Keel who got the quick start. They scored a goal early and added four quick points to lead by one four to two points in the early stages. Defences then took over as their was fifteen minutes without a score. Glenflesk ended the half stronger, scoring three unanswered points, with Jamie Moynihan’s wonder point the highlight as his booming shot cannoned off the crossbar and between the posts. Listry Keels lead was cut to one four to five at half time.

Listry Keel got the first score of the second half before Glenflesk got back in the grove they had before half time. They were able to win frees and they were expertly converted. The sides were now level but Keel Listry counter attacked quickly and got their second goal. Glenflesk’s response was immediate. Centre back Diarmuid Furlong coming forward to score a great point from a tight angle, before Jack O Brien eluded his marker to score a brilliant goal. Listry Keel replied with a goal of their own. Glenflesk scored another point to go one up. There was to be one more opportunity. Listry converting a free with the last kick to earn a draw. Both teams now locked together on seven points at the top of the table.

An exhilarating match then, brings an end to the under thirteen campaign. This is an extremely young team and they fought back well after a slow start. The defence were very strong, restricting Keel to just nine points. At midfield Oisin Lynch was up and down between the defence and attack all evening, and Callum Cronin use of the ball was outstanding. The forwards scored fifteen points, and some of the interplay was a joy to watch. Lastly, well done to the team mentors, Seamus Moynihan, Kenny Cronin and Declan Tangney, for producing a team that plays with great heart and skill, and within the spirit of the game.
