FOR the past 46 years, Listowel Credit Union has existed for the benefits of its members, a financial services organisation serving the area of North Kerry with offices in Listowel and Ballybunion. The mission of the credit union is to promote the financial wellbeing of its members. To achieve this purpose the credit union is a not for profit organisation committed to providing a broad range of innovative financial products supported by the excellent service of a dedicated. Surplus income generated by the credit union is returned to the members as a dividend to savers and/or an interest-rebate to borrowers, or it may be directed to improve or provide additional services for members. Credit Unions are non-sectarian, non-political and continue the Irish tradition of co-operative self-help. The credit union is underpinned by its community ethos and close relationship with members across the common bond they operate in. The credit union is member-centric with a passion for member service and bringing more and better financial products and services to the lives of individuals, families, businesses and communities in the area. Listowel Credit Union has a strong knit staff culture with many having worked in the credit union for more then 10 years. Regular staff meetings, transparency, openess and positivity mark the atmosphere here. Listowel Credit Union also provides a dedicated fund to support community voluntary groups and sporting organisations in their work in the local community. The range of local groups, sporting clubs and individuals supported by the credit union are, simply, too numerous to mention. And the merger with Ballybunion Credit Union in 2016 has strengthened their offering for a bright future.
