MATTHEW Smith is the Beardsmith. Beardsmith specialises in beard care and men’s grooming products. This high quality and natural range is all handmade in Curraheen, Tralee using traditional soap making techniques with masculine scents and ingredients. The Beardsmith range is chemical free and designed specifically for men and what the modern man requires from a grooming range. This means simplicity, masculinity and a range that works to keep skin and hair healthy, clean and styled. A modern and integrated online shopping experience, with a refined and tailored social media presence is a key component of the Beardsmith business model. Beardsmith also has a number of trade suppliers around Ireland. Beardsmith is also closely affiliated with the Horan Group and is supplied in the majority of their stores. Currently the range consists of soaps, shampoos, moisturising oils and styling waxes. Matthew - a registered nurse - designs, creates and markets the entire range himself. “Living at the foot of the Slieve Mish Mountains and on the Wild Atlantic Way I use my passion for Kerry’s wild regions to infuse my range with a rugged strength and a masculine vigour,” he says. Matthew sees his products as filling a niche in a growing modern market that has, up to now, been predominantly filled by mass produced chemical- laden products. As an artisan crafted range Beardsmith is a member of ‘Original Kerry’, a group that features the best of Kerry crafters who work to raise the profile of crafting in Kerry, with a strong connection to tourism and the US market. Matthew also works closely with other Kerry businesses and organisations like The Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards and Horan’s Health and Wellness Fest.
